Greetings! These days not a day goes by without a conversation about community, the pending collapse of our economy or why the carrots are not coming up (this Spring has been very cold). Our homestead has added several garden beds and terraces and things are looking great these days. Many thanks to the people who have given their effort, creativity and love to our place. The cabins from the August 2007 workshops are being plastered and should be ready by this summer! Our workshops are filling up quickly. The one in May is full, but there is still some space in the July and August workshops. Don't wait too long with signing up, especially for the August workshop. We want to recommend our "new" workshop in July, which is a 4-day adventure in plastering with earth. You can take this workshop, go home and start right away on your own house. Earthen plasters can go on just about any surface. James has been in Portland for most of the Spring, working on some building projects and helping to prepare for this years' Village Building Convergence, an annual community building and natural building event in Portland. The event runs from May 23 - June 1. James will be a presenter one evening of the event, and will spend the days helping volunteers build a bench in Southeast Portland. If you're in the area, stop by to say hello! Plant a garden and have a great Spring! James and Coenraad |
